A four-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Mission and Bellows streets resulted in slow traffic, but no reported injuries this afternoon.
Officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department and other emergency personnel were called to the scene at about 3:15 p.m.
The accident was the result of a driver attempting to turn left out of a parking lot on the east side of Mission Street near the intersection, said MPPD officer D.J. VanDyke.
The car was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Mission Street. The oncoming vehicle then spun into the southbound lane and knocked an oncoming white van onto its side. A fourth car, also traveling south, was then clipped by the van when it flipped over.
“It was a mess,” VanDyke said. “Basically, one lane of traffic stopped, she (the driver) pulled out of the parking lot, and the second lane of traffic came through and hit her.”
The accident forced police officers to direct traffic around the intersection until about 4 p.m., when the scene was cleared.
Each of the vehicles involved sustained heavy damage, and tow trucks were also present at the scene. The black Oldsmobile clipped at the end of the accident, however, appeared to still be in operable condition afterward.

I’m glad no one was injured. It sounds like it could have been much worse.
Good to know everybody’s alright.
