Dennis Lennox has criminal complaint filed against him in Cheboygan County

Cheboygan County Prosecuting Attorney Daryl Vizina has filed a misdemeanor criminal complaint against Topinabee senior and Cheboygan County Drain Commissioner Dennis Lennox II.

According to a press release from Vizina’s office, Lennox sent 250 Christmas cards using Cheboygan County postage, which is paid for by the county. Many of the card included what the release called “campaign literature” relating to Lennox’s campaign for the 105th District seat in the Michigan State House.

The press release said Lennox had been asked to reimburse the county for the cost of the postage, but refused. Lennox later agreed to pay the postage fees, after a criminal investigation had begun. If Lennox is convicted of the allegations, the maximum penalty is a $1,000 fine and a year of incarceration.

“If this was any other citizen we would charge him, so we want to be consistent,” Vizina said. “If a employee at Subway was taking company resources for themselves, we would charge them.”

Vizina said Lennox had not yet been arraigned, and he expects a fomal arraignment either this weekend or early next week.

As of publishing time, Lennox had not yet read over the charges and denied to make any formal comment.

However, he did state he sees the charges as political posturing. Lennox, a Republican, and Vizina, a Democrat, are often at odds, and campaigned against one another when they were running for their respective current offices.

Lennox has been affiliated with CMU’s chapter of Campus Conservatives, where he made headlines campaigning against former Griffin Endowed Chair Gary Peters when he was running for the U.S. House of
Representatives.

Lennox still works with Campus Conservatives in a role as an adviser.

this is the guy running for the 105th house seat and who campaigned that the drain commissioner job had “nothing to do” so he should be fired!
yet he tries to get his budget increased twice and when that is turned down by the republican county commissioners he tries to impose new fees on those who want to connect to drains ($250) and those who want to construct a new bldg (5% of costs).

now he send christmas cards to voters with political literature enclosed at county expense. no new taxes he says!!

sounds like a hypocrite to me!

“However, he did state he sees the charges as political posturing.” Um no you little f@#king tool it’s not, you did something illegal got caught and now you want to spin it as political thing. Dennis you’ve always been a hypocrite but now you’ve become a petty thief and you’re also guilty of doing the same thing you’ve accused others of in the past: Wasting the taxpayer’s money. Bye-bye to your political career.

Its always about who you know. Compare responses, Lennox alleged misdemeanor versus Mt. Pleasant City Officials –

See when you’re a jerk to everyone and everything nobody gives you the benefit of the doubt when you make a mistake. This kid just likes to whine and pick fights with everything and everybody. Maybe a year in jail will calm his demeanor and force some perspective into that little head of his.

He's a twit who complains when “little old ladies donate ONLY $5.00 checks to his Republican Campaign, as it is a waste of his time to even go and cash the check.” I hope he does rot. He is a whiner who thinks that posturing will get him somewhere. He would not know a hard day's work if it slapped him in the face. CMU needs to separate itself from that little weasel before they have egg on their face as well.
