LeFevour named North team’s most outstanding player at Senior Bowl
Former Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour did not enter the game for the North squad at the Senior Bowl until the third quarter Saturday, but he made it count in his return trip to Mobile, Ala.
LeFevour scored on a 1-yard run to cap a six-play, 29-yard drive after a forced fumble with 6 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
He completed 5-of-10 passes for 97 yards, including two strikes downfield to former Cincinnati wide receiver Mardy Gilyard. LeFevour was named the North’s most outstanding player, despite Gilyard’s five receptions for 103 yards.
Just more than three weeks after leading Central Michigan to a 44-41 overtime win at the same stadium in the GMAC Bowl — Ladd-Peebles — LeFevour came away with a 31-13 win for the North.
The first was a 43-yard completion along the right sideline. That drive ended on a goal-line stand, however, when LeFevour could not get into the end zone on a scramble.
On the next drive, however, LeFevour found Gilyard in the end zone for a 32-yard touchdown pass, the game’s last score to give the North a 31-13 lead.
LeFevour finished with four carries for 12 yards and largely outshone former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, who finished 8-of-12 for 50 passing yards and had four carries for 4 yards on the South squad. Tebow also fumbled twice.
Former Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham was named the game’s most valuable player after collecting two sacks and forcing a fumble.
Former Tulane receiver Jeremy Williams was named the South’s most outstanding player. He caught six passes for 82 yards and had a 27-yard run on an end-around.
