Football team’s schedule set for fall

The CMU football team’s 2010 Mid-American Conference schedule was announced Monday, with the team not playing its first home conference game until Oct. 2 against Ball State.

After opening at home against Football Championship Subdivision team Hampton on Thursday, Sept. 2, the Chippewas play three consecutive road games, including their MAC opener against East Division opponent Temple on Sept. 11. An early-season matchup against Eastern Michigan follows the next week in Ypsilanti.

CMU’s other East Division matchups come against Miami (Ohio) and Bowling Green at home. The Chippewas close their home schedule against rival Western Michigan in a game scheduled for Friday, Nov. 5, the third time in the past five years the game will not be played on a Saturday.

    Sure would be nice to play 6 games at home and 6 on the road sometime in the near future.

    But, I guess CMU would have had 6 games at home if not for Indiana backing out and deciding that coming to Kelly/Shorts stadium was too tough of a game for them…

    I thought the athletic department told us we were going to have 6 home games. Another broken promise. Seems to be a trend in this State

    Also why can’t the Western game be played on Saturdays, like every other rivalry game in the country.

    They are attempting to keep the after game festivities to a minimum. However, doing this on a Friday, isn’t in the best of interest. I liked it better when the game was on a mid-week day.
