Racism still alive today
By James Falls on March 1, 2010 1:40 am / 32 comments
Who can honestly say that racism does not exist?
After watching the documentary Maafa 21, it makes sense why Africans suffer from so many diseases while living in poverty-stricken communities.
I thought Planned Parenthood’s objective was to provide services for people who choose not to have their babies. It is, but it also is to kill all babies of color.
Americans can make donations for abortions by a phone call, and can choose how they want their money donated. Not to mention most of these Planned Parenthood facilities are located in predominantly black communities, along with liquor stores.
Abortion is the leading cause of death amongst blacks, surpassing AIDS, gang violence, stroke and heart disease. It has killed more black babies than black soldiers during the Vietnam War.
Instead of spending money on fixing the problem, Margaret Sanger (founder of what is now called Planned Parenthood) and other elites would rather just eliminate blacks altogether.
From eugenics to embracing negative images through the media, we as Africans have been under attack for a very long time.
According to stewartsynopsis.com, people of color possess the CCR5 Delta 2 positive gene and are ten times more likely to be infected by AIDS than whites.
It wasn’t developed through monkeys — the American government conducted experiments to see what can be detrimental to the CCR5 Detla 2 positive gene. This experiment was conducted by the U.S. Secret Virus Program in the early 1970s.
The Tuskegee experiment involved 399 poverty-stricken black men being injected with syphilis and were forced to live with the disease. Penicillin was the declared cure for the disease, but the men who participated in the experiment were not given treatment.
Knowing all this information, I believe that I should not show any patriotism to America. I can’t sing the Star-Spangled Banner or recite the Pledge of Allegiance. It wasn’t made for me.
Poverty-stricken communities, poor education, false promises, installed STDs and drugs and diseases will keep me from reaching my greatest potential. Liberty and justice for all? Can’t agree with that.
Malcolm X said it best: “We are not African-Americans. We are Africans who happen to be in America.”

Hey Falls! Keep the HATE ALIVE and don’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out of racist America. Oh, if your “people” had any self control your sisters would not need so many abortion– cum to think about it if your “brothers” and “sister” had any command over their gray matter they would use “PREGNANCY CONTROL”.
I’m sorry, but I need a little more elaboration on how all white people are trying to get rid of black communities through planned parenthood. This article jumps around so much it makes my head spin so maybe I just missed something. There are planned parenthood buildings in black communities. Okay, how does this mean that planned parenthood is trying to get rid of all blacks? I guess I’m just not sure how planned parenthood is racist seeing as there are plenty of planned parenthood buildings in white communities as well as black. When I read the title of this article I assumed that it would be discussing either some form of personal racism that the author experienced, or institutional racism that may still exist and does still exist. Honestly, all I remember reading is how bad Americans are because they allow planned parenthood to exist and how African Americans aren’t Americans because there’s no Liberty and Justice for African Americans, I’m sorry for people of African descent.
This entire article does show how racism is alive in America today. Congratulations – you lived up to the title, sadly, you only showed how you hate Americans – and since anyone of African descent is not American, I can only assume you mean everyone else in America. What about the people who fight against planned parenthood? Surely there must be some white people who are opposed to abortions? Obviously not, they must only be Africans because all white people hate all Africans and wish to kill all babies born to parents of African descent.
What upsets me most about this article is that in a time of togetherness – when team USA just dominated at the Olympics and the county should be celebrating – you feel as though the country isn’t made for everyone, just for the few. The Constitution was set up to protect the people, it obviously has not always done it’s job. But to say that you can’t sing the national anthem is not only unpatriotic like you said, it’s pathetic. Gandhi said that you must be the change you wish to see in the world. I would love to live in a world where the playing field for blacks, whites, hispanics, and everyone else was even. I also know that this will probably never happen. It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop trying. You have stopped trying and are now just blaming everyone else.
Hell yeah, James!
well to timbankful its called birth control you idiot!!and it happens to whites also, they just hide it and their parents protect them…and if you watch 16 and pregnant or teen mom its mostly whites on that show so dont react so fast to protect them when their “brohters and siters” are getting std’s and brinning children into the world too!!!
Sarah you are getting a look at your future America’s future “dim blacks are haters”.
I wrote for my undergrad student paper and never did we publish anything so poorly researched and reasoned as this.
Please stop gathering your “facts” from loosely gathered conspiracy theories. They do not serve the Black community nor do they do anything to undermine the real institutional racism that exists in America.
How you can cite Maafa 21 as a credible source is beyond me.
Do better.
To the Sarah above who posted: The author is referring to a documentary film shown on campus which discusses black genocide in America, the abortion movement and its close association with the eugenics movement. The film is called MAAFA 21, check out the website if you are curious. http://www.maafa21.com
It is a well documented fact that there is a disproportionate number of abortion facilities in black neighborhoods than in white neighborhoods of the same socio-economic level- mostly funded by Planned Parenthood. The fact that the important players in the eugenics movement were many of the same important players and founders of Planned Parenthood is not a coincidence.
However, I take issue with the author of this article who is giving up hope in the United States. Yes, these facts are horrific and terribly wrong, but the best response is not to give up hope in the goodness of the average American. I am white, but I am not racist, and there are many people like me. We should use anger to fight against wrong doing, instead of using it to separate and give up on truly good people and a truly good nation.
James, in your column “Young people need to act more like role models” you write, “We gleefully honor the legacy of our Civil Rights leaders, but we don’t make strong efforts to continue their legacy.” But with this column you are in fact doing the opposite.
Instead of throwing the blame around like a hot potato, you might want to offer some possible solutions to the problems that you have listed, ie: drugs, crime and disease.
The Blame Game never accomplishes anything except over-emotional name calling, etc.
As for the alleged US Secret Virus Program, I am not sure what you mean when you say the US created AIDS when you then say it was experimenting with syphilis. Aside from the flowchart I found (and was unable to download) on Boyd E. Graves’ website there seems to be no evidence supporting this claim.
I do not deny that governments are capable of horrible things, take Chairman Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Jefferson Davis, and others as examples. But this seems awfully like a conspiracy theory. If I could see some unequivocal proof, it would be different. But this is one man’s word against the world.
Your column takes a hard “we are not with you” stance. Which is not what this country is about. We are about sticking together. Look at the way people came together after 9/11 and Katrina. That has to stand for something.
“Knowing all this information, I believe that I should not show any patriotism to America. I can’t sing the Star-Spangled Banner or recite the Pledge of Allegiance. It wasn’t made for me.”
Yet, you choose to remain in America, enjoying the rights and benefits of American citizenship. Enjoy being a hypocrite.
Speaking as an immigrant, if you do not or can not live in your country of birth, then emigrate to a more receptive country.
If we want to continue the unceasing “blame game,” then I suggest blaming the British government for establishing slavery in their colonies.
Yes, there is still racism. Yes, there is still slavery. Yes, the government does scary things to weed out non-elitists. There are conspiracy theories about everything (such as AIDS, fluoride in the water, 9/11) that say the government is slowly and covertly creating a submissive population who will bow to power and trade their liberties for safety. Eugenics happens to be a sick side of these theories, and it is backed up by lots of facts. (Powerful and influential groups such as the Bilderberg Group and the Rockefellers who have donated a lot of money to eugenic groups to further genetic manipulations.) The New World Order is controlled by these people and racism, eugenics, and conspiracies are the byproduct.
Maafa 21 is a film produced by Life Dynamics Inc., an anti-choice group with the motto, “Pro-Life: without compromise, without exception, without apology”. Perhaps you should do a little research regarding the media you consume before you take at face value a documentary produced by a group that would severely limit the rights of women, black and white. This claim of eugenics is just the latest rhetoric by the anti-choice movement to split groups that have traditionally worked together to further civil and human rights. Please note the billboards in Atlanta with the statement, “Black children are an endangered species.” An anti-choice group erected this advertisement likening black children to animals in order to elicit a knee-jerk response from the surrounding communities.
“I thought Planned Parenthood’s objective was to provide services for people who choose not to have their babies.”
Planned Parenthood provides reproductive care for countless women in clinics that may or may not offer abortive services. The vast majority of patients receive contraceptives and medical care that they would otherwise lack, since we as a society do not value women’s health.
“Abortion is the leading cause of death amongst blacks, surpassing AIDS, gang violence, stroke and heart disease.”
Abortion is a legal medical procedure, and we trust American women of any race to make medical decisions for themselves.
“Instead of spending money on fixing the problem, Margaret Sanger (founder of what is now called Planned Parenthood) and other elites would rather just eliminate blacks altogether.”
Margaret Sanger is not one of the elites, nor does she think we should eliminate blacks altogether. In fact, Margaret Sanger is not doing much at present, as she passed away in 1966 after a long life working for reproductive rights.
“The Tuskegee experiment involved 399 poverty-stricken black men being injected with syphilis and were forced to live with the disease.”
False. The Tuskegee experiment involved 399 poverty-stricken black men who were already infected with syphilis when they entered the study. They were, as you stated, denied treatment.
Mr. Falls, racism does, indeed, exist in our society. Systemic and cyclical racism, poverty, sexism, etc. are so ingrained in our society, that we don’t view it as a contemporary issue. We would do well to recognize the intersectionality of race, poverty, gender and oppression, and be careful to not alienate each other as we work to promote rights for all.
Poverty-stricken communities, poor education, false promises, installed STDs and drugs and diseases will keep me from reaching my greatest potential. Liberty and justice for all? Can’t agree with that.”
So, according to the inane content listed in the article, you plan on living in a country you hate, knowing full well that you will never be able to succeed because the world conspires against you? If this were any more melodramatic, it would be a made for TV movie.
Succinctly speaking, “Life: too hard, won’t try.”
While I do agree with you that racism is alive and well today, the Jena 6 being a prime example, I cannot say that it exists for any of the reasons you cited. You cite actions that took place years ago, a period of time in which few people dispute that extreme racism was prevalent.
Honestly, your article seems more a rant against Planned Parenthood than racism. I am a white woman who has used Planned Parenthood for reproductive care because my lack of health insurance didn’t allow me to use a normal medical clinic, women choose to have abortions (black and white), they also supply condoms for FREE which prevent syphilis and AIDS when used correctly. Being male, I highly doubt that you have ever set foot into a Planned Parenthood clinic, much less discussed birth control options.
The only thing accurate in this article is the title…
We have made so much progress with race relations in this country. All I hear about as a white, middle class male, is how terrible of a person I am because I’m white and I oppress African Americans. You should be ashamed of yourself for writing this article and cm-life should be ashamed to publish this. It turns back the clock to the 1970s.
And let me ask you one thing. Do you really believe that the abortion rate in black communities is a function of how many planned parenthood facilities there are in black communities? Or do you think maybe the number of planned parenthood facilities is a function of the number of abortions demanded by the black community. This article is disgusting and as a hardworking, white, non-racist American I demand that cm-life offer a full retraction and apology for this article.
It goes without saying that the quality of writing and research here is extremely lacking and a horrible reflection of Central Michigan University as an academic institute and I am ashamed to call myself a Chip if this is the crap we put in our newspaper.
I am so sick of this hypocrisy. I think that as a White European American woman I experience modern racism and discrimination as well, based on the fact that just because of my race (but by no personal actions of my own) I am automatically out to discriminate against African AMERICANS. My gender prevents me from excelling at an equal status as a man, too. I don’t sit and come up with irrational thoughts and conspiracy theories about it, I will choose to overcome through nobody’s actions but MY OWN. Step up and be the change that you claim you want to be, instead of posting moronic and completely false statements.
This article angers me in the IGNORANT statements and the ILLOGICAL ideas of a program that HELPS how many young woman in the black communities as well as other ethnic communities (including WHITE) each year. And someone on here said there are more Planned Parenthoods in black communities because of demand for them and I couldn’t agree more. EDUCATE YOURSELF before you ATTEMPT to make a legitimate argument.
Yes, there was racism and inequality for far too long in America, but while you’re complaining that Planned Parenthood plotting against you and the AIDS virus was created to wipe out African AMERICANS (which that entire idea is truly laughable), why don’t you educate yourself a bit more on the real racism that has occurred throughout history. African AMERICANS are not the only minority that has suffered, and to act as such is just plain and simple ignorance. Racism occurs to every race be it black, white, Hispanic, EVERY RACE.
And don’t say the pledge of allegiance then, but continue to live in America and continue to take advantage of the Constitutional Rights and freedoms we have. People from other countries constantly dream of coming to America to better their opportunities for themselves and their families’ opportunities, but they can’t. So how is your life so horrible? You have a warm bed to sleep in, material possessions, a so-so education (and I say so-so based on the quality of writing here and the fact that CMU would allow such an ridiculous article to be associated with the university), food, and clothing. That’s a lot more than your ancestors AND MY ANCESTORS can say they had.
Stop preaching about a topic you obviously know nothing about. Your opinion is one thing, the truth is another matter.
And other thing, about the AIDS virus being created specifically to wipe out African AMERICANS why don’t you research the statistics a bit more carefully? Better yet, go out and talk to a white family that has lost a loved one as a result of AIDS and tell them this whole little conspiracy theory.
In the US in 2007 the statistics for males diagnosed with AIDS was
White 138,937
Black/African American 131,992
Although this is in the US only, I’m sure that if you actually took the time to properly research your argument, you would find that your “theory” is nonsense.
Author must be trying to challenge jason gillman for his “laughably awful journalism” title
Another wooh is me article, by an excellent author, not. It’s seems you have an inferiority complex and wish you were white.
Can anyone say Poe’s Law? Anyone?
http://rationalwiki.com/wiki/Poe%27s_Law
I am sick of hearing about diversity and sick of hearing about racism. I would love for minority’s and majority’s come to my campus but when I look at everyone I see two colors. Maroon and Gold. Everyone is the same to me and when you classify students into groups maybe you are racist. When we go through the trouble to try to bring more of a certain race and less of another you are being racist towards the group that is being decreased. Allow all people to make their own decisions without incentives and if they really want to go to school here they will come.
This was a purely underdeveloped and last-minute piece that should not have been published.
There always has to be an excuse from people like you…”Knowing all this information, I believe that I should not show any patriotism to America.
Can’t agree with that.”
The only thing that will keep you from reaching your greatest potential is yourself.
I’m going to leave you with some of my favorite quotes… maybe people like you should take some time to think about them.
In reference to people with your attitude of “…will keep me from reaching my greatest potential” consider Samuel Johnson’s quote, “Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.” or maybe you should consider what Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” The excuse making from your type needs to end.
Consider this my pessimist friend, Sir Winston Churchill once said, “The pessimist sees difficulty in ever opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
Good luck in your journey, whichever way you may go and if you want to stick to your Malcom X quote of “We are not African-Americans. We are Africans who happen to be in America” then take your journey back to Africa.
Clearly the editor for the opinion section is lacking in editorial judgment. Just because it’s an “opinion” page, a newspaper shouldn’t print whatever they want without factually checking it. Whoever the editor of the opinion page is should be fired.
Racism, racism, racism….so sick of that damn word. Give it a break! You want to talk about racism..speak to your color! The “average” African American is 10x more racist than the “average” caucasian. I played college basketball for three years, I know how it truly is. I was in a locker room with 15 blacks and 4 whites everday. i know what goes on and how it really is. When is every other white person going to step up and start saying their being discriminated against??
I am appalled at how factually incorrect this “Opinion page” is and that they would publish garbage like this. James, you are a deeply disturbed individual if you actually believe a word of what Maafa 21 says. How about thinking about what you are saying before you type it?
I agree with reader the editor responsible NEEDS to be fired.
The reason there are so many Planned Parenthood facilities in ‘black communities’ is because they are needed there. Instead of pointing fingers at the people trying to help those who need it, maybe you should see that the people who live there need to start using birth control. Not only that, but no one is forcing the people who live there to have these abortions. If the women who get abortions could support their potential children, this wouldn’t even be an issue. These men and women bring it upon themselves, luckily there are people around trying to help them– because they CARE! Just like many Americans who care about their fellow Americans, no matter if they are black, white, green, purple, or yellow.
I understand that racism is still alive for some people. I think it’s horrible, but you are not making it any better by publishing poorly written articles and blaming those trying to help. All I hear is ‘poor me, everyone picks on me’ Come on, grow up, and grow a pair. If you are going to show how America is racist at least think of some better examples.
If you can’t stand America and the people in it, then leave. No one is forcing you to stay here. You are only poisioning our society more with your absurd accusations. And you wonder why some people are still racist…
You are horribly ignorant, my friend.
i dont like racism peace with u if dont 2
Hahahaah! Way to cite your sources. Go work for FOX.
Newsflash asshat, everyone in the US is just an African who happens to be in America if you're going by those standards. My ancestors just happened to get here before yours. I pitty you. Also, what you wrote may be treasonous.
These are all peoples choices, people choose to not use birth control and choose to be in gangs and stuff
