Junior right-hander Jake Sabol pitched five innings of two-run baseball to lead the CMU baseball team to a sweep of Central Florida Sunday in Orlando, Fla.
CMU scored the game’s first three runs before UCF scored two. Senior catcher Dale Cornstubble hit an RBI-single in the second inning to start the scoring. Senior second baseman Ricky Clark hit a sacrifice fly to score the inning’s second run.
In the fourth, Cornstubble doubled in another run before the Golden Knights closed the deficit.
Between the seventh and eight innings, the Chippewas added four more runs to put the game out of reach at 7-2. UCF scored two in the bottom of the eight inning to cut the lead to 7-4.
Sabol (2-0) gave up eight hits and a walk while striking out three batters. Junior Bryce Morrow picked up the save after a scoreless ninth inning.
CMU (4-2) beat UCF 11-5 Friday and 3-0 Saturday. It plays Butler on Tuesday to start the Russ Matt Tournament in Orlando.
