Western Michigan advances to face CMU men’s basketball team in MAC quarterfinals
The CMU men’s basketball team will get its third look at rival Western Michigan this season.
Western Michigan beat Bowling Green 75-73 on Sunday afternoon in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Kalamazoo, advancing to the quarterfinals.
No. 2 seed CMU (15-14, 9-7 MAC) meets No. 7 WMU (17-14, 8-8 MAC) at noon Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
The rivals split their two meetings this season, with both teams winning at home. CMU beat the Broncos 74-66 on Feb. 27, while WMU claimed a 71-60 win on Jan. 16 in Kalamazoo.

No. 7 Western Michigan vs. No. 2 Central Michigan, noon
No. 3 Akron vs. No. 6 Eastern Michigan, 2 p.m.
No. 1 Kent State vs. No. 9 Ohio, 7 p.m.
No. 5 Buffalo vs. No. 4 Miami, 9 p.m.
