The CMU club lacrosse team will focus on teambuilding as it travels to Missouri for two games after a week off from spring break.

Junior midfielder Brad Dickerson said this weekend is a good opportunity for CMU to come away with two wins after not accomplishing that goal on its last road trip. The team faces Minnesota State, Mankato at 1 p.m. Saturday and No. 16 Lindenwood 4 p.m. Sunday.

Senior defenseman Andrew Tillman said the team does not seem to be affected by the time off.

“Most guys practiced over break on their own and it showed in practice,” Tillman said. “The team is well rested, healthy and is eager to get back on the field.”

Coach Brad Thomas said he is looking for the team to recapture the momentum it had before the time off. Central is 2-1 after getting a win against Minnesota on Feb. 21.

Mankato (1-5) plays a fast-paced style, but it has lost five consecutive games. Tillman said the key to victory for CMU is not beating itself.

Thomas said at practice the team has worked on locating shooters and winning ground-ball battles.

Dickerson said conditioning, as well as quality offensive possessions and an aggressive defense, is needed in what he called a statement game against a top 25 team.

Lindenwood (5-4) has won four of its last five, beating Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Miami (Fla.). It plays Minnesota State, Mankato today.
