Additions to Letavis Cloth Vehicle Wash was unanimously approved Mount Pleasant Planning Commissioners Thursday.

Approved during a special session, the addition at the car wash, located at 900 E. Broomfield Road, will include construction of a wall and gables at the entrance and exit of the building.

“The wall would extend over the gable section,” said Jeff Gray, director of planning and community development.

The site plan included analysis from the city, saying city staff would be willing to work with the applicant to bring the proposed gable more in proportion with the building. The owners, according to the document, indicated “time is of the essence” and would like to begin construction as soon as possible.

Scott Perrin, a representative from Perrin Construction in Durand, reiterated that fact to the commission.

“They’d like us to start as quickly as possible with the decent weather,” he said.

The commission sometimes meets in special session if a business pays the city and can attain quorum, Gray said. Chairman Peter Orlik and Commissioner Rick Rautanen were the only commissioners absent.

Commissioner Nancy English asked Perrin if the business would install a sign along the gable. Perrin said he was not aware if the business was.

“We’re just doing the gables for him,” he said. “We don’t do anything with the signage.”

Gray said the commission did not have to approve a new sign on the gable if the owner decided to install one.

The next scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission is at 7 p.m. on April 1 at City Hall, 320 W. Broadway St.
