CMU claims three postseason awards prior to MAC Championships
The No. 24 CMU gymnastics team received three postseason awards Friday at the Mid-American Conference Championships banquet.
Katie Simon took MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year, coach Jerry Reighard won MAC Coach of the Year and Britney Taylor was named MAC Freshman of the Year.
Simon is the only league gymnast to finish the season ranked among the top three gymnasts on every event. She won MAC Gymnast of the Week twice.
Reighard led CMU (12-2 overall, 5-1 MAC) to its first midseason Top-25 ranking since 2005.
Taylor ended the season ranked second in the MAC on vault (9.840) and third in the all-around (38.865) and beam (9.780).
