Agnello defends his reasons for not attending SGA debate

My decision not to attend the Student Government Association debate last night was due to the fact that the event would be moderated by the SGA Elections Committee.

Appointed by our opponents, the SGA Elections Committee is a biased party, prejudiced against my candidacy.

The co-chair of the committee has even engaged in harassing my supporters and campaigning for our opponents.

Attending the debate would only justify this unfair behavior.

Students deserve a debate and election run by a neutral party, not SGA politicians helping to elect their friends.

Our opponents have stated SGA stipends are not funded through tuition dollars, but rather private donors.

The fact of the matter is evidence has been obtained from the Dean of Students proving all SGA bonuses are paid through the general fund – money that comes from the cash-strapped students and taxpayers.

We shouldn’t have to question whether SGA works for us or the administration.

Unfortunately, what happened last year with “FAILGATE,” many have to assume the latter.

When ESPN Magazine is quoted as saying, “What they’re doing at Central Michigan should be investigated by Congress,” it looks bad for CMU and it looks bad for our student government.

I am confident that when students take a look at which candidate really represents them, and their interests, they will make the right choice next week.

Evan Agnello

Why would the SGA not moderate their own debate?
    Isn’t that the whole point?

There are many different opinions and competing interests within the SGA, there are conservative and liberal members, apathetic members, radicals, and many other political beliefs. It has been a balanced deliberative body for decades. If the SGA and their committees have been antagonistic towards you, don’t you think it might have something to do with the fact that your campaign unilaterally identifies them as liars and thieves?

Your unprovoked hostility towards our entire elected representation is baffling, as is your continual habit of identifying them as “politicians” as if that is an insult rather than the description of what their job is.

I admire your passion sir, but the revolution eats its children.
Your radical ideas and political game playing is a recipe for disaster.

In addition, the SGA did not approve of the new Tailgating rules. The actual decision they made was simply not to fight it, since the Student Government has more important things to do than complain about people trying to take away our drinking.

NO, not when the person running for president is currently the vp. Why would Evan as an outsider trying to clean up fiscally irresponsible happenings, would agree to that? They should have an outside guy like a news reporter or tv personality.

  • Pathetic

    Evan,

You’re just a coward. You should have stepped up and voiced your opinions at the debate. Or were you just too afraid to get caught in one of your lies?

As for “Failgate” as you refer to it, that’s just idiotic. If you payed attention at the games, the new tailgate created a larger attendance at the football game. You just want to be able to drink more and talk about how drunk you got at a football game. Using ESPN Magazine as an authoritative source is pathetic as well, do you really think that what they have to say means anything, its just a sports magazine.

You’re platform for your campaign is a joke. Maybe you should step our from behind that tree and stop crying “unfair” and voice something, or do you have to use that spokesperson, who is really the one saying everything not you. Oh well I guess.

You’re complete and utter disrespect towards the other ticket just goes to show that you are the WRONG choice for President of SGA.

Why have all the comments been deleted from election related articles?
    Friends, I'll tell you why.
The comments where overwhelmingly anti-Evan, as the good people recognize a tyrant on the rise. Evan and his cronies though, have recognized this and silenced the public outcry against them!
Clearly this is the first step of Evans censorship crackdown!
Do not let him stifle our voice!
    The People Will Be Heard!
We will not stand for this oppression! *

*As you can see, unfounded conspiracy theories and revolutionary rhetoric are easy. Mr. Agnello why not focus on the issues instead of mudslinging and paranoid rantings ?

The vp of america is a democrat, does that mean every american is now a liberal ?
the current administration is not supported by the entire SGA, although due to Evans scare mongering tactics and insulting campaign they probably are now.

It's like saying presiden't debate lets have Bush hold the questions for McCain and Obama. It isn't sga's debate you fruit cup it is the good people of central michigan university. quit your tom foolery!

  • Le' Gipper

I bet Ronald Regan would have committed to the debate… then won. Just to show how good and right he was. Just saying.

No it is like saying “lets have an american mediate the american debate” Why doesn't Evan want SGA to have a say in who their next leader is?

He kept saying CM-Life should moderate, then in the same breath saying that CM-Life is bias because they support his opposition.
The Agnello campaign is so insulting there pretty much isn't anyone unbias left on campus. It is just what happens when you divide the world into “followers” and “enemies”
