You get a bridge card! And you get a bridge card! And you get a bridge card!

Why not exploit taxpayers – so long as we're not exploiting students? But if many students do still work and pay taxes… oh crap. Well that just won't work either.

Okay, okay – I've got it. If we end SGA stipends – we can create a scholarship for students that could benefit from the money to help them pay for college expenses. Yes, and we can even set some criteria for these students to meet to make them eligible for the scholarship. What if we had it set that for students to receive this scholarship, they would have to contribute something back to the University – that way, we're helping students and students are helping other students and serving the University at the same time. I think we're really getting somewhere here!

    Wait a second…

Yeah, that's a good point Keith. I'm trying to understand his plans too. So again, he wants to get rid of the stipends and create a scholarship for students. Still debatable on whether or not that could actually happen – but let's suppose it does.

Who gets the scholarship? Evan said he would select his own committee to choose a student to receive the scholarship – with no oversight at all. How do we know he wouldn't just select one of his friends? And only one student would receive the money – while the stipends, as of now, benefit 7 people.

He said it was such a small amount of money, it wouldn't be worth putting towards SBAC or the Campus Programming Fund (which could actually benefit a large amount of students) – and yet his whole platform is set on making sure that the students in SGA don't get a dime of it. So long as he and his committee get to decide who on campus deserves the money.

This whole thing sounds really shady to me – I think we're better off with the system already in place.

What makes you SGA kids sooooo special that you all deserve to get paid and all of the other RSO presidents, who work their butt off do not get paid.

  • Rose

Other RSO main goals are not to represent and serve the student body. RSO -WORKS…for the students…
