Mixed results for track and field teams at MAC Outdoor Championships

 

The Central Michigan men’s and women’s track and field programs recorded varying degrees of success over the weekend at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.

The women finished fourth out of 12 teams competing programs overall with 86.50 points.

Junior Raeanne Lohner, named the MAC’s Most Outstanding Performer of the weekend, was one of three on the women’s side to win titles in individual events. Lohner finished first in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races, recording a career-best time of 16:25.46 in the 5K.

Senior Erika Schroll, no stranger to success in the high jump, won the event for the fourth consecutive time with a height of 5 feet, 8 3/4 inches.

Sophomore Dierra Riley won the 100-meter, her first conference title, in 11.83 seconds. She also placed second in the 100-meter relay with junior Brittnee Shreve, junior Jordan Dunn and junior Shanaye Carr.

The men finished fifth out of six teams, but got first place finishes from senior Greg Pilling and junior Branden Post.

Pilling claimed honors in the discus (187 feet, three inches) for the second consecutive year while Post placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.40 seconds.
