Sean Kesterson named third College of Medicine associate dean

Dr. Sean K. Kesterson has been appointed as the third associate dean for the Central Michigan University College of Medicine.

Dr. Sean K. Kesterson

Kesterson, a clinical assistant professor for the department of internal medicine at the University of Michigan Medical Center and medical director for the U-M Health System’s West Ann Arbor Health Center, will serve as the college’s associate dean of clinical affairs and hospital relations.

His appointment follows a national search that began almost a year ago and he will start Oct. 5, according to a press release. Kesterson’s annual salary will be $325,000.

Dr. Ernest Yoder, dean of the College of Medicine, said in June the search committee for the clinical affairs and hospital relations positions had finished their search and were talking with a preferred candidate.

“(Kesterson) is the preferred candidate I mentioned,” Yoder said.

Kesterson’s role on campus will include participating in the undergraduate medical education program’s development and operation, while directing the college’s clinical affairs and hospital relations.

Kesterson will join Deborah Biggs, associate dean of administration and finance, and Nehad El-Sawi, associate dean of medical education and faculty development. An associate dean of student affairs has yet to be appointed.

    Hi Sean,

Hope all is well with you. Roger and I will always be indebted to you for your friendship and support over all the years you were his doctor. Roger now has liver cancer (dianosed in November 2010) and is awaiting a transplant. We are doing fine, though the wait is a bit stressful. Best of luck in your new endeavor and if you can, please drop us an email.
