BLOG: ESPN writer still thinks CMU will make bowl game
Even after a 31-17 loss against Ball State and 2-3 start to the season, one ESPN.com writer still thinks the Central Michigan football team will make a bowl game.
In ESPN.com’s Week 5 Bowl Predictions, Andrea Adelson, one of two writers that projects the season’s bowl match ups on a weekly basis, has CMU playing Idaho in the Humanitarian Bowl on Dec. 18 in Boise, Idaho.
Mark Schlabach, however, thinks Northern Illinois and Fresno State will meet in Boise. NIU was the preseason favorite to win the Mid-American Conference West Division.
Both writers picked CMU to play in the Humanitarian Bowl following weeks three and four. Adelson had the Chippewas playing Southern Methodist in the EagleBank Bowl on Dec. 29 in Washington, D.C., after week one and two.
CMU has made four consecutive bowl appearances, but is in danger of snapping that streak with a sub-.500 record and games against Virginia Tech, Navy, NIU and rival Western Michigan remaining.
