Snyder visits Central Michigan tailgate
Rick Snyder surprised Central Michigan University tailgaters Saturday afternoon when he stopped in lot 62 in his campaign bus, the “Nerd Mobile.”
The Republican gubernatorial candidate stopped in Mount Pleasant as part of his “One Chance” tour – his final campaign trail push before Election Day this Tuesday.
Mount Pleasant graduate student Aaron Evens said Snyder is “great.”
“We need less government, and more business sense,” Evens said. “Practicality is what we need.”
Snyder was joined by other statewide GOP candidates: U.S. Rep. Dave Camp, R-Midland, Rep. Brian Calley, R-Portland, lieutenant governor candidate, Bill Schuette, attorney general candidate, Ruth Johnson, secretary of state candidate, and Andrew Richner, running for reelection of the University of Michigan board of regents.
State Rep. Bill Caul, R-Mount Pleasant and his wife, former Rep. Sandy Caul were present with Kevin Cotter, the Republican candidate for the term-limited Caul.
Ben Greene, a Grand Rapids junior, followed the candidates around Lot 62 and watched them interact with CMU fans.
“I thought it was great, it’s really something else to see the amount of energy we have on campus right now, to see that many college students signing the bus was really something special for me, I think the energy around here is incredible, and I think we’re on our way to victory on Tuesday.”
The group of candidates began the day in Flint, visiting Frankenmuth and Midland before coming to Mount Pleasant. They end the day in Traverse City.
