Man who fled scene of fatal accident pleads guilty, faces up to 10 years in prison

A Weidman man who killed a bicyclist in a hit-and-run accident earlier this year faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty.

Kevin Michael Pastotnik, 30, was arrested in August and pleaded guilty Tuesday in Isabella County Trial Court for failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing injury or death and driving on a suspended license causing serious injury – both felony charges.

He was originally charged with driving with a suspended license causing death.

Pastotnik was driving north on South Winn Road near West Broomfield Road late on Aug. 5, when he struck struck Alma resident Elias Nelson Lopez, who was riding his bicycle in the same direction.

Pastotnik will be sentenced Jan. 20 by Judge Mark Duthie.

He deserved to be imprisoned. People who did things like those should really deserved to be like that. Actually being imprisoned is not enough since they take away lives.
