CM Life cross country athlete of the year: Raeanne Lohner
Raeanne Lohner
Junior Raeanne Lohner helped put life back into the Central Michigan cross country program in 2010, leading the team to a runner-up finish at the Mid-American Conference championships. Her second-place finish was the best for the program since it ended a series of three consecutive MAC championships, with the last coming in 2004.
Lohner earned an All-MAC first team selection and was named as an Academic All-MAC honoree. She recorded her best time at the MAC championships, placing second in the 6K at 20:43.7. At the NCAA Regional Championships she placed 15th with a time of 21:04.94.
The junior distance runner led the team to a 15th place finish out of 38 teams at pre-nationals with a time of 20:49.56. She won CMU’s 25th annual Jeff Drenth Memorial kicking off the 2010 season with a time of 18:03.6, marking her personal best in the 5K.
Lohner also competes for the CMU women’s track and field team, where she holds school records for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. She has the record for the mile run during the indoor season at 4:50.48 and the record for the 10K meter run during the outdoor season at 35.23.59.
Lohner was recruited out of East Grand Rapids High School. There, she received eight varsity letters in both cross country and track and field. She was a part of a two-time state championship 4×800-meter relay team. During her cross country season at East Grand Rapids, she contributed to two state championships and was a three-time cross country all-state runner.
Her father, Ray Lohner, was a track and field coach at Eastern Michigan University and her mother Ann was also involved with the university’s track and field program. Her brother Adam has recently transferred from Michigan State and competes in the pole vault.
Lohner was also recently selected to the indoor track and field Academic All-MAC team. She currently holds a 3.92 GPA.
Honorable Mention: Danielle Dakroub
The CMU women’s cross country program finished second at the MAC championships, in large part because of Danielle Dakroub. Dakroub finished 30th at MACs with a time of 22:05. Her personal best in the 6K came at the NCAA Pre-National meet, where she finished in 21:39.5, good enough to finish 97th out of 261 runners.
CMU hosted the Jeff Drenth Memorial, where Dakroub posted her best time in the 5K with a time of 18:40.02.
She also competes during the track and field indoor and outdoor seasons where she ran a career best 9:45.42 in the 3K placing fourth in the conference.
Dakroub was also honored as an Academic All-MAC honoree for the 2010-2011 indoor track and field season. She currently holds a GPA of 3.34 towards a math major.
Honorable Mention: Jason Drudge
Sophomore Jason Drudge was an All-MAC first team honoree, finishing seventh in the conference championships with a personal best time of 24:58.8 in the 8K. At the Jeff Drenth Memorial, he finished 10th in the 5K, earning a career best with a time of 15:45.3.
He finished 45th out of 288 runners at the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State University with a time of 25:58 in the 8K. He achieved his best time in the 10K at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with a time 32:25.85.

In 2008, he was named the captain of his high school cross country team and was all-conference twice in the 1600 meter, and as many times in the 4×400 meter and also once in the 800 meter.
