South African flag stolen from University Street porch

A South African flag is missing after police say someone stole it off a porch in the 400 block of South University Street.

The flag was stolen sometime between Thursday and Friday from a porch, said Jeff Browne, Mount Pleasant Police Department public information officer.

The flag is 4 feet by 6 feet in dimension and is valued at $50.

Currently there are no suspects in the theft.

“The owner has no idea who took it,” Browne said. “Everyone is baffled.”

Sometimes people just walk onto someone’s porch and steal things, he said.
