LINKS: Snyder: Students best served by university in classroom, not courtroom

Gov. Rick Snyder

Gov. Rick Snyder told Caro residents Central Michigan University student’s interests are served in the classroom instead of the courtroom, according to MLive.

“We want our kids to get a great education, and being in court is not the best way to do it,” Snyder said.

Snyder addressed the ongoing contract dispute between CMU’s administration and the Faculty Association after a town hall meeting in Caro’s Brentwood Restauarant.

It doesn’t help CMU next year for money in Lansing when the Governor knows about what the union is doing to CMU.  Not a good sight.

The administration is the party that took it to court (and lied), you ignorant hack.

Snyder and the Republicans are cracking down on pay and benefits for government employees.  Since CMU employees are government employees, it doesn’t look good when they’re walking picket lines instead of working…………….especially when Rick inherited a mess from Socialist Jenny Granholm.

Considering the awful economy Granholm left the state with, every state employee and every campus employee should be taking paycuts, pay more for benefits and definitely not strike.

If I were Western, MSU, all the other schools, I sure would remind the Governor and legislators about unionized CMU faculty walking out on the students……and perhaps, sway them to re-route monies to their respective schools.

CMU faculty should be taking paycuts and paying more for benefits like other state employees and private sector employees are doing.

Rick Snyder is working for $1.  Every CMU employee makes more than our Governor.

  • Logical Chip

IF they lied, they should get the same punishment that President Clinton got for perjury…what was that again?  Oh yeah…nothing.

Of course you *do* have documented proof of lying under oath of a material nature, not semantics about the classes who had no professor to “lead” the class on the first scheduled meeting…right?

  • Refudiator

“We want our kids to get a great education, and being in court is not the best way to do it,” Snyder said.

The best way to do it is apparently continued disinvestment by the state in education.

  • Is Glenn Beck A Terrorist?

It’s not a matter of ‘if’; CMU did NOT cancel all classes on August 22, 2011, as was claimed, and there’s no semantic wriggling that makes it true: “On August 22, 2011, the Central Michigan University Faculty Association (Faculty Association), in violation of Michigan law, went on strike against Central Michigan University (CMU), thereby forcing CMU to cancel all of its classes.”

I don’t know why you brought up Billy Jeff, but you got the facts wrong, as usual. He got his pre-political career put to an end (via disbarment.)

If everyone in the administration responsible for the lie were terminated for cause and all of the sleazy lawyers responsible for the lie were disbarred, that would be equivalent. Sounds good to me.

  • Is Glenn Beck A Terrorist?

Keep up the dishonest work, Denny.

Snyder’s a con man, ripping off the public to pay off his pals. He’s gaining far more than a dollar a year for the damage he’s doing.
