Mushroom foray to take place this weekend
The biology department and several clubs are teaming up for a mushroom foray this weekend.
in Neithercut Woodlands Saturday.
Central Michigan University’s biology department, the Michigan Mushroom Hunter’s Club and the Chippewa Valley Audubon Club will be hosting the event at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Neithercut Woodlands, a 252-acre property owned by CMU. The property is a 30-minute trip north of Mount Pleasant on M-115, just west of the US-10 junction.
Participants will go into the woods Saturday morning along the trail system. They will collect the fungi growing, then bring the samples back to the lodge for recording and examination purposes.
The gathering will probably last two hours. Afterward, the group will have a potluck.
