CMU women’s soccer opens conference play with draw at Akron
The Central Michigan women’s soccer team opened up Mid-American Conference play on Friday with a 0-0 draw at Akron.
The Chippewas could not get its offense rolling, only mustering three shots on goal.
“I just thought we were a little slow and lethargic in certain areas,” said head coach Neil Stafford. “I didn’t think we applied our game.”
This was the fourth overtime game CMU has played this season, posting a 1-1-2 record.
It made a bid to score late after taking a corner kick during the last minute of the second overtime period, but could not find the back of the net.
Junior goalkeeper Stefanie Turner made three saves in the game, posting her second shutout of the season.
The Chippewas resume conference play at 1 p.m. on Sunday when they travel to Ohio to face the Bobcats.
“I think we got to finish chances and we have to create more chances,” Stafford said. “If we can do that than I think we will be fine.”
