CMU 82, UC-Irvine 72: Men’s basketball team responds after blowout loss against New Mexico State
The Central Michigan men’s basketball team needed a lift after getting blown out 78-49 on Thanksgiving.
It received three on Friday.
The team opened with a 12-0 run, leading to a 82-72 over UC-Irvine in the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska.
The other two lifts were by individuals.
Junior forward Olivier Mbaigoto scored a career-high 23 points, making four of his seven 3-point attempts.
Sophomore guard Trey Zeigler scored 21 points, making 5-of-8 from the free throw line and ‘responding’ after going 0-for-5 against New Mexico State.
CMU never trailed, holding a 43-31 lead at the half.
