CMU 90, UAA 84 OT: Women’s basketball has better luck in overtime

It was another overtime thriller for the women’s basketball team in the Great Alaskan Shootout.

This time it found itself on the winning end, beating Alaska Anchorage 90-84.

Junior guard Brandie Baker tied the game with 15 seconds left on a 3-point shot. The Chippewas never trailed in overtime, scoring the first four points and eventually outscoring the Bulls 17-11 in the period.

“Our bench was really big in this game,” Guevara said.

The Chippewas had a lead evaporate to one at the half, leading 38-37.

“We had a couple lapses in our defense, especially in our perimeter play,” Guevara said.

Freshman guard Kerby Tamm knocked down four 3-pointers coming off the bench.
