Experience brought nominations for some Tuesday night

 

Those who pulled ahead early stayed ahead at the Isabella County election primaries.

As precincts rolled in Tuesday night, current Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski jumped ahead of his republican opposition, Robert Hall, and stayed ahead, pulling in 78 percent of votes.

Mioduszewski received endorsement from both the republican and democratic party prior to election day.

Isabella County Prosecutor republican hopeful Tom Weiss spent the evening catching up to 16 years of experience in the court system from Risa Scully. Scully lead Weiss 65 to 35 percent.

Other nominations and approvals

Republican nominations for Isabella County Clerk and Register of Deeds were clear early on Tuesday evening.

Minde Lux defeated her opposition pulling in 44 percent of the vote.

Karen Jackson pulled ahead with a 43 percent tally defeating her opposition.

A millage for Isabella County Parks was passed, earning 56 percent approval, estimated to raise $567,963.

Another millage from the Isabella County Transportation Commission earned 58 percent approval and is estimated to generate $1,611,230.

In accordance with State law a small portion of the millage may go to the Downtown Development Authorities of the Cities of Clare, Mount Pleasant, and Union Township; the Local Development Finance Authority of the City of Clare; the Tax Increment Finance Authorities of the City of Mount Pleasant; and the Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities of the Mount Pleasant.

In total, 6,425 came out to vote in Isabella County Tuesday. Most democratic nominees ran unopposed in the county.

Results were announced around 12:20 a.m.
