Program Board to host club information event Monday

Live music and street signs will fill the area in front of Bovee University Center on Monday, Sept. 10. Program Board is getting the word out regarding upcoming fall events, and is using a creative way to do it.

Students will have an opportunity to create an aluminum street sign designed however they wish, said Public Relations Chair Nicole Murawski. The informative and entertaining gathering will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“It will allow students to ask questions and get students to talk,” she said.

During this time, Ann Arbor singer-songwriter Jetty Rae will be playing the guitar and singing solo. The emerging performer is a classic, folk singer with a touch of soul. The artist originally from Northern Michigan has been recognized as MTV.com’s “Needle in the Haystack.” The artist has performed in the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn N.Y., the Grand Traverse Opera House, DTE Energy Center, Big Ticket Festival and other big venues.

“I’ve never heard of Program Board,” said New Lothrop senior Alyssa Rivette. “I’m excited to see what it’s all about. That sounds like a good way to get students involved without it being boring.”

Murawski said during the three hours, she hopes students will be “in the know” about upcoming events. Among the upcoming events is American Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Dawes, who will give a motivational speech to students about her experiences as an Olympian in Plachta Auditorium on Wednesday.

Coming up on Sept. 15, Iliza Shlesigner will be giving a comedic performance at Plachta Auditorium. Shlesigner is the only female and youngest comedian to have the title of NBC’s Last Comic Standing.

To honor Hispanic Heritage, Program Board will have AnnaMaria singing in the Bovee University Center Rotunda on Sept. 18. Hispanic food will also be offered.

Program Board will also feature B.o.B. with the New Boyz in the Events Center on Sept. 28. Tickets are now on sale.
