An armed Eaton County man was arraigned Monday in Isabella County’s 76 District Court in relation to an aggravated assault he committed outside of the county.
According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, troopers were advised to be on the lookout Sunday for the man, who reportedly had multiple handguns in his possession, was suicidal and indicted he would get in a shoot-out with police if approached.
Troopers received information from the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center that the suspect was in the Mount Pleasant area, police said.
Troopers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle and a felony stop was conducted where the suspect was arrested without incident.
Investigations revealed the suspect had two loaded handguns inside the vehicle.
He was lodged in the Isabella County Jail on charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon, police said.
He will be turned over to the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department to face felony assault charges in jurisdiction at a later date, police said.
