Mount Pleasant is one of the 100 smartest cities in the United States, according to a new study.
Lumosity, a San Francisco-based company that creates mind excercises, created a list of the smartest cities in America based on data created from 3 million people nationwide who played their games.
The list is heavy on college towns, and Mount Pleasant can count itself as one of them. It came in as the 58th-smartest city in the country.
“One of the most interesting findings from this analysis is that most of the top metro areas contain major research universities, suggesting that education is an important predictor of cognitive performance,” Lumosity data scientist Daniel Sternberg said in a statement.
Other Michigan cities on the list are Ann Arbor (No. 6), Houghton (No. 20), Mishawaka (No. 71) and Grand Rapids (No. 79).
Ithaca, N.Y. came in as the smartest city in America, followed by State College, Pa., Lafayette and West Lafayette, Ind., Iowa City, Iowa, and Ames, Iowa.
