Since the 2010-11 school year, the Central Michigan Life sports staff has provided CMU sports fans with our take on CMU and national sports beyond print in podcasts. This year, we’re doing the same, but we’re letting you take a glimpse into our world.
From Project 989 with Andrew Stover and Anthony Fenech (who now work at MLive and the Detroit Free Press, respectively), to Champ and the Man with Brandon Champion (now with the Muskegon Chronicle) and John Manzo, and then Champ and the Newman with Champion and Seth Newman, we have tried to entertain and enlighten you on CMU and national sporting news.
This year Aaron McMann, Newman and myself are trying a different approach on our new video series, “The Sportz Guys.”
That’s not to say there is anything wrong with what worked in the past. In fact, many of those shows were entertaining, and we still talk about them in the Central Michigan Life office.
But that’s just the problem. We found it entertaining, and so did our friends, but what about everyone else? We want to expand, and, with a new design and website, we thought this was the year to do just that.
Instead of bringing you a podcast, we will show you what’s going on behind the scenes of the CM Life sports desk.
We’ll continue to give our opinions on CMU sports, Michigan, Michigan State, the Mid-American Conference, the Big Ten, the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and the rest of the sports world and continue to give you our stellar game predictions.
You’ll just be able to see the banter amongst each other.
Oh, and one last twist.
The most listened-to shows in the past were those with special guests. So, why not get guests on every show?
Our goal is not only to discuss sports amongst ourselves, but with a fellow Chippewa. That will help humanize not only us, but the athletes you love to read about.
So, with that said, we hope you watch “The Sportz Guys” every Friday during the Fall semester, only on cm-life.com.
