A water main between the Engineering and Technology Building and Moore Hall ruptured and began spewing water around 2 p.m. today, flooding the parking lot adjacent to Moore.
Several Facilities Management workers arrived on the scene within minutes and attempted to shut off the water flow, as brown-tinted water gushed from the ground a few feet from the entrance to Moore Hall, almost reaching from one entrance to the next.
According to Supervisor of Electrical and Maintenance Mechanics Mike LeMay , the city of Mount Pleasant is in charge of the water supply going into Moore Hall.
“The feed going into the building (has broken), I believe,” LeMay said.
This is the feed entering the building from the main water supply.
According to LeMay, the exact cause of the break has not yet been determined. There is not yet an established estimate of how much time it will take to shut off the water or to fix the break in the water feed. Currently, students might not be able to park in the lot behind Moore.
