The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe released a transcription of a racially charged voicemail message on Wednesday. The tribal leaders said the message was left on tribal engineer Donald Seal’s phone by CFO Kirk Shewchuck of ACD.net, a Lansing-based telecommunications network.
The tribe said the voicemail message was delivered on May 6.
“We’ll see what happens,” Shewchuck is believed to have said on the message. “Those f***ing Indians. Let’s call them red man. You know what? F**k you! Let’s sic the Sioux Tribe on you. Let’s get a good ‘ol fashioned Indian war going!”
Tribal Chief Steve Pego called the comments “irresponsible,” and “disrespectful.”
Pego asked if “ACD.net CEO Kevin Schoen tolerates this type of racial and vulgar activities” in a press release issued by the tribe.
Meanwhile, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi is planning a boycott of Shewchuck and the company.
“I would strongly consider contacting law enforcement,” said Homer A. Mandoka, the chair of the NHBP council. “I believe this to be slanderous.”
Mandoka also called the message a “motivated hate crime.”
