Wrestling coach Borelli should be commended for continued excellence

For the Kent State wrestling team, Sunday's wrestling meet would have been an opportunity for the Golden Flashes to shock the world.

Instead, it was business as usual for the Chippewas.

While CMU was busy over-matching opponents and pinning them with ease, KSU players were taking immature cheap shots, with Kent State's Aaron Miller leading the way. CMU's Brandon Sinnott defeated Miller 11-3 after Miller was disqualified for being a sore loser. Sinnott received four unsportsmanlike conduct points for Miller's behavior.

Sinnott showed incredible poise in the match, not falling for Miller's weak antics. In the end, the Chippewas demolished KSU 34-3, giving coach Tom Borrelli another notch to add to his impressive career belt at CMU. Sunday's win gave CMU its ninth straight Mid-American Conference regular season championship.

The win and Sinnott's disciplined composure were just more examples of how good a coach Borrelli is. Borrelli hardly ever gets the best recruits to come to CMU, considering the talent that flows through schools such as Iowa and Oklahoma State every year. Yet every year the Chippewas win the MAC and are ranked in the top 10 nationally. Currently CMU is ranked No. 5.

Borelli is a coaching genius. He knows how to get the best out of his wrestlers, and every year they don't disappoint.
