Sports Update: Men's basketball wins final exhibition game

A balanced scoring attack led the men’s basketball team against Indiana-South Bend 70-42 Saturday in Rose Arena.

Six players scored at least seven points in the team’s exhibition win.

Junior forward Marko Spica’s 13 and eight rebounds lead the Chippewas. Senior forward Chris Kellermann (10), junior guard Jalin Thomas (12) and freshman guard Finis Craddock (13) also scored in double figures.

CMU's defense held Indiana-South Bend to zero made 3-pointers and just 27 percent from the field.

"For a good shooting team not to make one, it's a testament to our focus on the points of emphasis that we need to do to be a successful team," said coach Ernie Zeigler.

In the first half the Chippewas, with the scored tied at four, went on a 13-0 run. Kellermann hit two 3-pointers as the Titans never got closer than 13 points the rest of the game.
