Men's basketball wins seventh straight at home

The CMU men's basketball team maintained its Mid-American Conference West Division lead, defeating Buffalo 88-82 Thursday in front of 1,029 in Rose Arena.

CMU (11-9, 6-2 MAC) was led by senior guards Jordan Bitzer and Robbie Harman, who finished with 22 and 19 points respectively.

"I thought our seniors did a really good job leading the way," said coach Ernie Zeigler.

The Chippewas win keeps them a half game ahead of Ball State (12-9, 6-3 MAC), who won 64-59 against Bowling Green Thursday in Muncie, Ind.

CMU's win is the team's seventh straight at home, only losing its home opener this year in Rose Arena.

In the first half, Buffalo came out with fast, trying to get CMU off its game and at one point led by as many as seven.

But CMU went on a 18-4 run in the opening half, gaining a lead it never relinquished.

The Chippewas face MAC leading Kent State (16-7, 7-2 MAC) at 7 p.m. Saturday in Rose Arena.

The Golden Flashes defeated Eastern Michigan 75-68 Thursday in Ypsilanti.
