Track and field earns five first place finishes at Len Paddock Invite


Despite rainy conditions, the Central Michigan track and field team had five first place finishes over the weekend at the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor.

Freshman Alex Rose posted a career-best throw in the discus of 181 feet, three inches to take first. Sophomore Josh Kettlewell won the pole vault with a measurement of 16 feet, 6 3/4 inches, also a career best.

Redshirt freshman Jacob McDonald rounded out the first place finishes on the men's side with a height of six feet, 4 3/4 inches.

For the women, senior Tanisha Johnson won the triple jump with a career-best of 38 feet, five inches and long jump (18 feet, 7 1/4 inches). In addition, Johnson finished second in the javelin (96 feet, 11 inches).

Senior Greg Piling (179 feet, seven inches in the discus), junior Mykal Imbrock (183 feet, two inches in the hammer throw) and sophomore Katie McColly (17 feet, 11 3/4 inches in the long jump) all finished second in their respective events.

Freshman Kevin Bacon and sophomore Andrew Kruskamp tied for second in the long jump and high jump, respectively.

Senior Mike McGregor took third place in the pole vault with a height of 16 feet, 0 3/4 inches.

The team travels to Buffalo, N.Y., on Thursday to compete at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships.
