BREAKING: College of Medicine opening delayed, first class to begin in summer 2013

The opening of the College of Medicine will be delayed a year, according to an e-mail from University President George Ross sent Tuesday morning.

The delay is a recommendation of Dr. Ernest Yoder, founding dean, to further prepare for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education accreditation.

“While it is a difficult decision to make, the university is confident that it is the right decision and will allow CMU to take full advantage of the great opportunity we have to create a College of Medicine that will be viewed as an industry standard and model for quality and innovation,” Ross said in the message.

The inaugural class will now begin the summer of 2013.
