Library extends hours of first floor, Extended Hours Study beginning Feb. 1

The hours of the Extended Hours Study room and first floor at the Charles V. Park Library have been extended after five months of planning.

The Extended Hours Study and the first floor of the library will remain open until 3 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday of each week. The first floor will close at midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, and the Extended Hours Study will remain open until 2 a.m.

Student Government President Vincent Cavataio, Dean of Libraries Thomas Moore and Associate Dean of Libraries Richard Cochran determined that the extra hour was most needed based on surveys filled out by students.

Extended hours will begin Feb. 1 and will continue until May 2. At that time, the library staff will evaluate the usage of the extended hours and determine whether to repeat the service hours in the fall semester.

Should students take advantage of the extended hours, the possibility that library hours will extend past 3 a.m. is likely as long as funding allows, the news release stated.
