Defensive tackle Matt Losiniecki (shoulder) to miss Miami game
Central Michigan will be without starting defensive tackle Matt Losiniecki on Saturday against Miami University (1 p.m., ESPN3), head coach Dan Enos said on Thursday's "Sideliners" radio show.
It will be the third consecutive game Losiniecki has missed since suffering the shoulder injury on Sept. 14 at UNLV. Enos said he hopes to get the 6-foot-3, 290-pound junior back for next week's game at Ohio. Expect to see redshirt freshman Kelby Latta in again at defensive tackle.
Latta had three tackles in last Saturday's game at North Carolina State, including one for a loss. He's recorded six tackles since replacing Losiniecki, who had five tackles including one for a loss in three games.
Injuries have created depth issues with the interior of the defensive line, with Enos saying after CMU's Sept. 21 loss against Toledo that losing Losiniecki and backup nose tackle Jabari Dean (groin) for the season allowed the Rockets to rush for 252 yards, including a season-high 197 yards for star running back David Fluellen.
Last week, N.C. State rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns against the CMU defense. Miami (0-4) is averaging less than 84 yards rushing per game.
