Baseball drops last game of series against Central Florida


Sloppy play from Central Michigan cost them a chance at sweeping their first series of the season.

Against Central Florida, CMU, had two costly errors in a 5-4 loss on Sunday afternoon.

With the score 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, CMU sophomore pitcher Jason Gamble failed to pickoff CFU player JoMarcos Woods at first base. Woods was able to move to second on the error before stealing third.

Erik Barber would single to left field to put the Knights up for good 5-3.

The Knights jumped out to a 4-1 lead after scoring one run in four consecutive innings.

Right fielder Logan Regnier continued his hot streak for CMU by going 3-for-3 at the plate.

Catcher Tyler Huntey scored two runs to go along with two hits and an RBI to help pace the Chippewas.

Nick Deeg tossed just over six innings allowing a total of five runs with three of them being earned.

Facing 29 total batters, Deeg, struck out five.

CMU falls to 6-9 overall and will travel to Texas next weekend.
