Annual Mount Pleasant Summer Festival to celebrate 30 years in Island Park this weekend

For 30 years, Mount Pleasant has put an emphasis on summer time fun at its annual downtown Summer Festival.

The event is scheduled for June 5-8, and will include several carnival activities such as rides, a car show, chainsaw exhibitions and a parade at 7 p.m. on Friday.

“It’s a family oriented event, and we try to do something for everyone,” said Bob Ebner, the director of Entertainment for the event. “It’s bringing the community together and bringing people in from the outside. It’s a good way to kick off the summer.”

The festival usually attracts about 30,000 people throughout the weekend and raises $5,000-&7,000 in revenue, Ebner said.

Le Tour De Mont Pleasant and the Mount Pleasant Beer Festival will also take place the same weekend as the festival for the third consecutive year, Ebner added.

“We tried different dates, but it didn’t really mater. It seems like the same amount of people,” Ebner said. “It seems to make sense to have the events going on all the same day. It was an intentional move.”
