United Apartments offers reward for information on arsons

United Apartments is offering a $1,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the dumpster fires at Yorkshire Commons, Tallgrass Apartments, and The Forum Apartments.

According to files obtained by Central Michigan Life through the Freedom of Information Act, there has been 11 incidents of arson in Mount Pleasant since April. In May, two incidents of dumpster fires were investigated in United Apartments locations, totaling $2,000 in damage.

Jeff Browne, Mount Pleasant public information officer, said to his knowledge United Apartments has not offered a reward for information leading to an arrest in the past.

He said several apartment companies in the city have voiced similar concerns over acts of arson at their properties.

United Apartments declined comment when contacted by CM Life.

They ask that those with information call the Yorkshire Commons Office at 989-773-7272 or email at yorkshire@livewithunited.com.
