Senior wide receiver Titus Davis led the CMU football team to a victory in it's 2014 Homecoming Game against Ohio Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

A pair of senior leaders led the Central Michigan University football team to a win that snapped a three game losing streak and improved the Chippewas to 3-3 on the season Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Wide receiver Titus Davis and running back Thomas Rawls accounted for 91.2 percent of CMU’s yardage in its 28-10 victory over the Bobcats.

Davis caught a career-high 10 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Rawls carried the ball 40 times for 229 yards a pair of touchdowns of his own.

The Chippewas put up 14 points on their first two drives while the Bobcats went three-and-out on their first two offensive attempts.

“Something that we said the last couple days was fourth-and-goal,” Davis said. “Just play every play like it’s fourth-and-goal, and we did that. We needed this win bad. Anytime you lose three straight, that’s rough.”

Davis, who has been nursing a nagging knee injury, said he still is not completely healthy.

“Wait until he’s 100 percent,” said Head Coach Dan Enos. “He’s a difference-maker. He has a really good knack for running routes, creating space. It’s always good to have him out there, because it helps your run game, it helps everything.”

Rawls fumbled the ball on his first carry of the game, however the Chippewas recovered the ball.

“As a running back, there’s no excuse,” Rawls said. “It did kind of get me upset. Sometimes, certain plays get you going a little bit, just a little bit of motivation. It did ring the bell in my head to say, ‘hey, you’ve got to make up for it,’ and that’s what I did.”

Ohio never got in rhythm offensively, tallying 24 yards in the first half and finishing with 187. The Bobcats didn’t eclipse double digit passing yardage until the last play of the third quarter.

Sophomore quarterback Cooper Rush, who threw for 233 yards, coughed up the ball with less than a minute to play in the first half, setting up the Bobcats in the red zone. The Chippewa defense, lead by junior Blake Serpa and his two sacks, held Ohio to a field goal.

“To hold them to three, that was huge for us to do that,” Enos said. “Our defense was outstanding, really the key to the game. If you can hold people to 10 points, you’re going to have a chance win a lot of games.”

CMU heads to Northern Illinois next Saturday.
