The Central Michigan University wrestling team opened the Mid-American Conference season with a win on Sunday.

As a pair of inexperienced squads faced one another, the Chippewas topped Buffalo University 21-10.

The win moves the Chippewas to 2-4 on the season and gives the team it's first match victory since Nov. 15.

CMU junior Zach Horan, (No. 10) won the Chippewas' first match, 5-1, against BU’s Jason Estevez. Freshman Cody LeCount and junior Jackson Lewis also won their matches for CMU.

CMU lost two consecutive matches at home against The University of Michigan and Iowa State University last week before heading to New York this weekend. Buffalo lost it’s third straight match to Kent State University before hosting the Chippewas on Sunday.

With a win over the Bulls , CMU joins The University of Missouri and KSU at the top of the MAC standings, early in the season.

Northern Illinois University comes to McGuirk Arena at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12  in the Chippewas' next match.
