A Gratiot County Sherriff's deputy arrested a 21-year-old Mount Pleasant suspect who matched the description of a man who robbed the 7-11 store on 2397 S. Mission Road Friday morning.

The man is being held in Gratiot County on unrelated charges and will not be arraigned on charges stemming from the Mount Pleasant robbery immediately.

Officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department interviewed the night clerk after the robbery, who provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle, which was shared with law enforcement agencies. Investigators believe the man entered the 7-11 and demanded money with his hand in a bag, claiming he had a weapon, though no weapon was ever seen or recovered.

The suspect then fled in a dark four-door Sedan south on US-127 and attempted to dispose of evidence by throwing it onto the freeway. The evidence was later recovered by the MPPD. Police obtained a two-count felony warrant for robbery armed and robbery unarmed.

Investigators are still processing evidence and completing search warrants involving the incident.
