REPORT: Bonamego will be CMU's next football coach

The Central Michigan University Athletics Department is in final negotiations with Detroit Lions special teams coach John Bonamego to become the school's next head football coach, according to multiple media reports. 

No official word on Bonamego's hire has been given from the CMU Athletics Department as of Friday evening. 

Nate Schneider of the Mount Pleasant Morning Sun tweeted the news at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.

Moments later, reporters from the Detroit Free Press tweeted about Bonamego's negotiations with CMU

Bonamego would replace former CMU head coach Dan Enos, who resigned on Jan. 22

A walk on to the CMU football team, Bonamego has been the Lions' special teams coordinator for the past two seasons.
