After winning three of four games against Florida Gulf Coast on Central Michigan baseball’s opening weekend, the Chippewas claimed both Mid-American Conference Player of the Week and Pitcher of the week.

Junior outfielder Logan Regnier earned player of the week after driving in six of CMU’s 17 runs, including three triples. His triple in Friday’s game scored the only two runs of the game for either team.

Down 6-4 with two outs in the ninth inning in the third game of the weekend, Regnier tripled in two runs again. In the 12th inning, the Novi native singled, stole second and third base and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Senior pitcher Tim Black pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Friday’s game and pitched in innings 10 through 12 in game three without allowing a run.

Black, who was First Team All-MAC last season, stuck out five of the 14 batters he faced and gave up two hits and one walk in his four innings.

The Chippewas will travel to DeLand, Fla. this weekend for a four-game series against Stetson.

Senior Halle Moraw has been named the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week.

Moraw scored a 9.85 on vault, a 9.9 on floor and a personal best 9.9 on beam in the Chippewas’ win over MAC-rival Kent State University on Sunday.

The Clarkston-native has been one of the most consistent high scorers on the team this season and is still searching for a perfect 10 on her floor routine.
