Herman Boone to Speak at CMU
Herman Boone
Herman Boone will speak in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. March 25. as part of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions’ Marge Bulger Sport History Lecture Series.
Boone is the former head football coach of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia and portrayed by Denzel Washington in “Remember the Titans”.
Boone, missed his scheduled lecture last semester due to a family death, will share his experiences of race in his lecture called “Lessons in Diversity.”
In 1971, Boone became the head football coach and a teacher at T.C. Williams High School, which was a newly integrated school that mixed a predominantly white school with a predominantly black school, causing extreme racial tension.
This is the 22nd year of the Marge Bulger Sports Lecture Series.
