After three rounds of golf Monday and Tuesday at the Players Club in Yorktown, Indiana, the Central Michigan University golf team found itself at the bottom end of the leader board at the Cardinal Classic.

The Chippewas’ team score rose to 89 over par by the tournament’s end—dropping the team to 14th place in the 16 team tournament

Grand Blanc native Kristen Wolfe and Nashville, Illinois native Natalie Johnson led the way in the Chippewas’ second outing of the fall season. The two sophomores kept their scores under 80 in each of their three rounds—a team goal seat by Head Coach Cheryl Stacy.

Johnson recorded a team high eight birdies and Wolfe was the team’s low scorer, posting a 73 in her first round and 230 for the entire tournament, but seven 80-and-over rounds overall polluted the team score.

Eastern Kentucky took the top spot on the leader board, finishing three-over par, followed by Eastern Michigan at 16-over.

Sophomores Chloe Guschewski and Amanda Walsh did not participate in the tournament.

The Chippewas will take a week off before heading south to the Catawba Island Club in Toledo Oct. 5-6 for the Rocket Classic.
