Central Michigan's Elaine Materise takes the ball down the field on Oct. 1. The Chippewas lost to the Pacific Tigers 3-0.

Kicking off its six-game homestand against the Pacific Tigers, the Central Michigan field hockey team continued to struggle Thursday in nonconference play, losing 3-0.

Neither team had offensive success in the first half until Pacific scored with thirty seconds to play in the half. Rylie Corneau earned the goal for Pacific, the only goal the Tigers would need.

After the break, Pacific scored early in the first four minutes. Minutes later, Pacific struck again with another insurance goal.

Pacific outshot CMU 17-2 and Central Michigan’s goalie Sadie Lynn Reynolds made seven saves.

CMU (0-9) has its second Mid-American Conference game of the season Friday against Ohio at 3 p.m. The Chippewas also host Kent State at noon on Sunday.
