Freshman goalie Zoie Reed of Central Michigan's soccer team has been named the Mid-American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

Reed recorded a pair of shutouts over the weekend against conference opponents Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green, both of which were overtime results.

A native of Woodbridge, Connecticut, Reed made four saves in Friday's 0-0 draw against EMU and made four more saves in Sunday's victory over BGSU. She played for 207 minutes and 15 seconds of combined game time from Friday and Sunday.

Starting in 10 games this season, Reed has posted five shutouts and ranks third in the MAC with 5.25 saves per game. She is fourth in the conference with three shutouts in MAC play.

CMU plays on the road against Akron on Friday and Buffalo on Sunday. The Chippewas are 4-7-2 (3-2-1 MAC) this season.
